     The sound card approach is neat for a few reasons... 
     First, you get two independent ports from one card. 
     Second, I had trouble getting my machine to boot when using an X100P (clone) 
     card, so they seem to be somewhat finicky - but a sound card-based solution 
     can even be built up using an ISA-bus PC.  
     Third, it's inherently 4-wire...
